Portrait of a Drowned Man (PoaDM) came together in the basement of a cheap college rental house in the Central Hillside neighborhood of Duluth, MN in the Spring of 2003. The original line-up was the reminants of a short-lived indie rock band called thevermontconnection. Though the band would go on to experience multiple line-up changes over the years, the collective spirit of PoaDM has remained. Writer and designer Frank Chimero really says it best:

We make what we want, break things in the process, collect what we like, and connect what we discover to get us closer to where we want to be.
